About The Artwork

This piece is on cradled panel, wired and ready to hang. I've used ashes and charcoal to symbolize mortality, humanity and grief. I was inspired to create a piece about a friend, Tamra, who is 34 years old with 4 children under the age of 6, and a recent widow. Her husband died in a horrible accident and this last year has been her processing grief while still holding onto her faith as she continues to be present for her children. A day hasn't gone by since that July day in 2017 that I haven't thought about her. She allowed me into her grief to make this portrait of her and I am grateful. My hope is that viewers will feel the depth of her grief and the height of her hope as they dwell together in her heart side by side. This piece is unframed on cradled gesso board and wired and ready to hang.
