ABOUT THE ARTWORK

'The Spaces In Between Infinity' mathematically reveals what is concealed availing a journey into the spaces of infinity within ourselves. Painted on to Tapa cloth (a non woven cloth made in the Kingdom of Tonga from pulverized mulberry) and then mounted on canvas. The Tapa gives a vibrancy and slight 3D texture that works in harmony with the motion and non motion of the master pattern.

Hello I am Uili Lousi, international contemporary visual artist. Born and raised in The Kingdom of Tonga, based in New York, New Zealand and Tonga. My artistic practice mirrors all my experiences. Inspired by global cosmic transformations I seek the deeper order of our universe, the space in between to create a vibrancy and current of potent energies. The symmetrical complex and intricate ancient Fata-O-Tu'i-Tonga (Royal Tongan Motifs) patterns form the basis of my work. Through research into mathematics, psychic's, and logic's I abstract into rhythm, synchronicity, harmony, motion and non-motion. A visual matrix and dialectical process of transition from traditional to contemporary and representation to abstraction. Like a fire that has no smoke and does not burn. It is just an inner mounting flame that only illuminates and is at peace with the soul. My mediums are diverse perspex, painted glass, sculpted oil, 3D Tapa, canvas. Some of the works you see here are painted on Tapa cloth (a non-woven fabric made in The Kingdom of Tonga from pulverized mulberry tree), and then mounted on to canvas. Tapa is slightly textured giving the works a beautiful lift of quiet light. COLLECTIONS: Embassy of The Kingdom of Tonga London England. Royal Palace of King Tupou VI Kingdom of Tonga.
