The rapid decline of the Philippine Eagle population was the inspiration behind this work. Such a gorgeous creature with a huge wing span that commands attention with a piercing stare, this avian beauty is such a joy to simply look at! But unfortunately, this species is hunted down massively. A realistic portrayal of the bird highlights the contrast value tones with a special focus on the eye details. I wish the viewers to connect to this lovely being, and be able to reflect on the thoughts it is trying to convey! Watercolors were the perfect choice for this portrait with their transparency and illumination properties - Have used professional Danielsmith colors for the best archival quality. Paper is Arches - cold pressed 100% cotton paper.
