Rachel Maddow's voice cracked as she reported on the "Tender Age" Shelters in Texas, her eyes glistening with tears. She struggled to maintain composure, her normally sharp and composed demeanor breaking down. As she handed off to Lawrence O'Donnell, her hand shook slightly and she took a deep breath to regain control. In that moment, she was more than just a news anchor- she was a real person, raw and emotional. Watching her speak truth to power time and time again has inspired me to become a better individual; to give selflessly to others, to stay engaged and informed, and to always strive for kindness and empathy.
