"The View From Here" Painting

Rather than empowering what kills our motivation and spirit in the world, I rebel against that by focusing on creating nature-inspired positive, uplifting and vibrant original fine art in accessible and affordable small to large formats, limiting and/or eliminating ecologically harmful materials and methods in the process.

Having established a firm foundation in realism, I have grown into abstract expressionism to capture the evocation of what I see and feel when in nature. I find acrylics to be a great medium to convey the texture, energy, immediacy and spontaneity of the moods that are invoked by the natural world; be it a gloomy eve or a radiant summer day, quiet in the air or the rushing of waves. Oils also have their place in capturing evocative and luminescent scenes and subjects. Watercolours, coloured pencils, charcoal, oil pastel and so on, lend themselves to a specific moment or expression. These mediums help me to describe that moment that I am capturing or trying to express in a tangible, physical, emotional evocative form.
