Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.

An exploration of the 'Real World'.

Waipori Falls reserve is a tiny landlocked island, a biogenic matrix marooned, a gorge full of intricate wildlife.
I live in the tiny ex-hydro dam village within the reserve. The river is controlled by five power stations on Waipori river. Berwick pine forestry surrounds most of the reserve's borders, the rest is fenced in 'stock' paddocks.
Within the reserve are living communities: trees, birds, ferns, fungi carpeted soft rich soil - biota.
Birdsongs, rustling leaves, smells of sweet fresh water mixed with a perfume so intoxicatingly perfect that I fall into
an enchantment. This bubble of dynamic life, a little lost realm of a once ancient larger New Zealand forest with the
intricacies of real life all but gone.
Part of a larger devastation of our world by our industrialized species who has lost the plot - and paradise entirely.
I paint the living energy of what is real in a "human-centric" world of a "make believe" culture (ramming lies and
advertising junk down our throats) Human supremacists are turning a once democratic technic into an authoritarian technic, enslaving the whole planet and us to this perverted, uncompromising mechanical monster.
We used to live in accord with nature - it would be wrong and stupid not to. To go against nature was and is a
death sentence.
The body of Gaia whose matrix is our only home is under threat of total collapse. We are heading for our own extinction with this death cult culture in love with machines - death over life. Obviously the bribe of civilizations metallic baubles is stronger than the fact that its killing the planet.

These works are my little voice in the void for and with Gaia, this precious living marble in the vast vacuum of

Nature is the artist. I am a humble cave painter trying to capture her unrivalled splendour on canvas.
