While I was making this painting there was an action about the trees at the radesingel. Protesters put scarfs around the trees as a means to give attention to the fact that the government wanted to cut the trees. That is why there is a red scarf around the tree you see in the painting. I used oilpaint because it makes the best colours. I also feel that oilpaint has more dept and can give more meaning and feeling to a painting. Because it is a material that dries slowly and you can work longer with it while it is still wet, I feel that it can also hold emotions.
