Pichwai painting is originated at Nathwada, Udaipur in Rajasthan, it's a beautiful and vibrant Indian art form which is evolved around 400 years ago in India. This form of paintings are done behind the main deity of the Nathwada temple, 'Srinath ji'. Literal meaning of 'Pichwai', is 'Pich' meaning background and 'Wai' means hanging. The main subject of Pichwai painting is Lotus, cow and the other elements related to Sri Krishna. This painting is Varnished to protect it from dust and UV ray.
