About The Artwork

Having my studio in Southeastern Oklahoma, USA for some 20 years and being in the middle of tornado alley, I became a storm-watcher, always looking for that perfect weather pattern that would produce a tornado or lofty cloud formation. This painting is of an F3 tornado forming and was painted in honor of my Uncle Johnnie, a man of the earth, a farmer. When I was 13 years old, I remember standing on the front lawn of my Great Grandmother's house in Colbert, Oklahoma with Uncle Johnnie. He was looking toward the West at some stormy clouds forming on the horizon and said “We gotta go, there's a cloud a-comin'.”
