"This City is My Pride" (Not Available) Painting

The city of Al-Salt is the architectural wonder of my country Jordan. Situated on three hills it has been recognized by Romans, Byzantines, Mameluks and Ottomans due to its location, their ruins still survive so do burial sites of many prophets. Houses built in the 1830's interlinked by stairs and still standing, are inhibited till this day. Initially made of local yellow stone (now some houses are painted with different colors), the details and features are amazingly impressive and inspiring to the eye of an artist, they consist of domed roofs, vaulted interiors, arched doorways and beautiful balconies which are very well preserved. The buildings are integrated into each other such as a church and a mosque reflecting the charm and beauty of our culture and social heritage. Buildings, houses and architectural marvels have always magnetized my eyes. I interpret what I see as "beautiful" onto my materials, canvas, wood or any other depending on the medium best depicting how I feel towards the object. Here using acrylics in "This City is My Pride" I tried to exhibit the magnificent architecture and the grandeur design of my beloved Al-Salt City where my father originally came from.
