"Three Times Blue" is an abstract painting done in acrylic paint on a cotton canvas.

This work is done entirely in shades of blue, turquoise and teal. I applied the layers of paint with palette knives, allowing each layer to dry before adding another layer. This gives the surface a lot of movement and depth. While not heavily impasto, there is tactile build up on the surface.
My goal was to recreate the glassy movement of the water's surface as you stare into it.

The overall measurements of the work are 36 inches tall by 24 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep. The edges are painted to match the body of the work.

The work is signed in the lower right corner, and is signed, dated, and titled on the back. It is wired and ready to hang, but would look wonderful in a shadow frame.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the high gloss finish of the paint, even in an unvarnished state, this painting is difficult to photograph. The actual painting is slightly less green than depicted in the photograph and I think is best described as being predominantly teal to dark turquoise. I will be happy to provide more photos of the entire work or detailed regions of the work upon request.

Singular events and emotions are the inspiration for many of my paintings. I believe that color more than anything will provoke a response to a painting. If I can achieve an emotional charge between the viewer and my work, then I have reached my goal. Not everyone will say that they appreciate or understand abstract art. I say, don't stare at a work of art and try and force yourself to see what you think should be there. Look at what you see and accept it. That is is your totally unique experience with any work of art. The works of great artists such as Gerhard Richter, Joan Mitchell, Barnett Newman, Ad Reinhardt, Albert Oehlen, Christian Hetzel and many others feed my love of art and drive me to continue expanding my style.
