ABOUT THE ARTWORK

It was in the afternoon in April I was standing in the meadow with my little easel. There was the yellow grass, the blue sky and the white flowers. The twigs of the willows will yet to come. It won't be long.... This painting is made in acrylic on canvas. I made it en plein air in 2017. But something didn't feel good in this painting, it looked to dark. So I changed it in 2024: there is more light in it, just as in early spring. This painting comes wired, framed and well packed. So, when you receive it, it is ready to hang on the wall.

The paintings of Anneke Zwager are a colorful expression of the landscapes. She makes the landscapes glow in different shades of blue, green and yellow. Inspiration comes often from agricultural fields or natural surroundings. Whatever she paints the peace and stillness always creeps in. This is what she tells about her own work: ”I have become convinced that the less that happens, the more I see. I then look much more carefully and with more concentration. In doing so, I gained an eye for processes and mutual connections. The stillness is conditional. Many natural phenomena do not show themselves without that peaceful environment. And without the silence, even the stillness within yourself, you cannot see it. You have to want to see it and make an effort to do so.” In today's fast-changing world, it's important for people to be able to unwind. Anneke Zwager tries to contribute to this in her painting by bringing silence and balance. She loves to go outside for the plein air painting. In the studio the paintings are finished. Review of a Japanese collector: "I really LOVE your work. Your work really gives me very positive and harmonic impact. Arigato”.
