"Threesome", Mixed Media on Canvas

In these works, ugliness, beauty, tragedy, and comedy coalesce to create chaotic worlds that reflect the human psyche.

I use materials non-hierarchically. Paint is often paired with fabric, paper, plaster, dirt, glue, plastic, thread, glitter, wood, cotton, shellac, and resin. This base materiality can reference the biological in the form of thick puddles of discolored resins or furry, hair-like clumps. For me, the works function best when they exist on the boundary between humor and pathos.

Due to the nature of my process, these works are labored over for months, taking on a new form with each layer until the correct image emerges.
