About The Artwork
On one of the weekends in 1972 Samir went with his wife to Qutub Minar complex for a picnic cum painting outing. More than the Qutub Minar area Samir was fascinated by a Tomb structure across the road atop a rocky hill. It was a clear noon with some stray thin clouds here and there. The vast landscape view he got sitting under a shaded tree was a perfect subject for his on the spot water-color painting. The Tomb is on the left side of the road going from Delhi to Gurgaon. What was a desolate road then is the busy MG Road now.
