About The Artwork
Toroweap Overlook is situated on the North Rim of the Colorado River within the Grand Canyon National Park. It is 3,000 feet straight down to the Colorado River. This was a (failed) exercise to try to trick one’s mind into thinking that the canyon was a mere 40 feet drop, similar to a Mayan’s ball court. The image includes an imaginary ball hoop. Prior to visiting the overlook, being a little sensitive to extreme heights, I imagined that this canyon was just like a small sports stadium, a basketball court of sorts.
