Treasure Paintings by JR Bissell "Kelly Slater's Treasure Cove" A tribute painting to Kelly Slater, not only one of the best athletes on the entire (flat) earth but also a fellow Pirate who loves Treasure. Kelly's love for Treasure was inspired when he used to surf a break by Sebastian Inlet with his dad growing up who would tell him all about the 1715 Fleet Shipwreck. Kelly's also had conversations with Jimmy Buffet (friend of Mel Fisher) about a shipwreck his dad and his friend found a long time ago near the area usually covered by sand. I knew I had to do a painting in honor of Kelly once I heard he loved treasure, and by far one of hte most humble people I've talked to given his accomplishments and extremely knowledgeable in conspiracy theories (and trolling the dumb ones like flat earth lol) However, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. This was by far the most time consuming painting I've done thus far, a lot of elements I've never tried painting before, I rpobably threw my brush at the wall over a dozen times; but hey you can't make diamonds without pressure right? Thanks for being the ultimate inspiration Kelly you're the ultimate pirate along with the ultimate Pirate's Life.
