About The Artwork
I found a tree in Central Park NYC that looked as if a female figure was carved in relief into it's bark. I jumped over two wire fences to photograph this evocative bio-form. The tree appears to be morphing into a voluptuous woman. I translated the image into an acrylic painting, first in a small scale on paper which sold in a benefit, then in a larger format on canvas. I hope the viewers will find the work as transporting as I do. The subject fits perfectly into my vision of trees as they relate to and connect with human anatomy. It is an ideal example of this view of the unity of human-kind and nature.
