"Tree" is an original artwork created with watercolor on 9" x 12" watercolor paper (300 gsm). This piece was created freehand using a brush and watercolor. To depict the tree and nature, the "Mithila" or "Madhubani" folk painting style of India has been used. The artwork depicts a tree that can be interpreted as a Tree of Life, a Christmas tree or any tree symbolizing celebration, growth, natural abundance and interconnectedness, blending tradition with creative expression. I enjoy working with Mithila/Madhubani folk art in both traditional and contemporary contexts. The free-flowing, primitive elements—such as freehand lines and figures—and the often bright and vibrant colors of Mithila art, also known as Madhubani painting, inspire me. Some traditional styles use very bright and vibrant natural colors, while others are created using monochromatic lines, such as red or black. The figures drawn are flat, linear and are drawn without the use of perspective. Tree, birds, flowers and nature have been drawn with brush using bright and vibrant watercolor. The sky, greenery water, fishes and colorful decorative motifs make the artwork bright and vibrant, reminding of beautiful and decorated Christmas tree and festivity. This page is for my artwork inspired primarily by Mithila / Madhubani art of India. My love for drawing freehand, using lines, dots and bright, bold colors find Mithila / Madhubani art as an idea inspiration. I enjoy drawing freehand, where every freehand action, every mark made, leads to the next one, and next, creating a poetry with lines, a story in rhythm. Often seemingly crude figures and uneven lines tell us a story that stems straight from an honest thought process, as if straight from the heart. I am open for art commissions and customized art. My other artwork can also be searched as Seema Kumar's art.
