ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Densely woven deep grey gradually lightens and gives way to red gum brown and vibrant orange in this unusual textile work which explores the transition required to call another place home. A treechange is a move from the hustle bustle of urban life to a rural existence of seemingly slower pace and ultimate relaxation. Video https://youtu.be/cdkNEgFOKFs The work is secured to canvas. It is fitted with D rings and wire for immediate hanging.On the front you will find my initials. On the back is my signature, title and year. This painting is registered with the NRAA (National Registry for Australian Artists). Details of this registration are provided as well as a Certificate of Authenticity. THE INTERWEAVE COLLECTION Highly unique paintings that emulate the stunning drape of textiles. This series combines my love of craft with my passion for painting. Warp and weft threads are cut from a variety of paintings that exist only to be deconstructed and then reconstructed as a new whole. Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
