Triad Painting

There are no general theories or codified ideas at work in my paintings. From the earliest cave images to the most contemporary paintings I have felt the magical qualities that capture the truly wonderful transformation of concrete materials into space, light, mass, motion: the things that are not there - but where? As engaging as that alchemy is, it is not what motivates me to paint. More importantly it is about freezing that eternal moment when conception/creation, mind/body become one. As opposed to the additive, analytical method that knows then acts – the method of most other disciplines, the artist’s act of total conviction while not knowing, becomes a profound metaphor. Truth to one’s intuition, in the face of an unknowable situation, is what makes authentic art the truest metaphor we have for the human condition. This is what continues to inspire my commitment to the act of painting.
