Nicola Sacco Nicola Sacco was born in Locri, in the province of Reggio Calabria, on May 26, 1950. From early childhood, he showed a marked passion for nature. This led him to approach the environment not only with curiosity—focused on meticulous observation of events and phenomena—but also with a contemplative eye, capable of perceiving the mystery and charm of the energies that permeate creation. He earned his diploma from a Scientific High School and later from an Art High School. Between 1972 and 1977, he received his first recognitions in the field of painting. He took part in open-air competitions in Ardore and Gioiosa Ionica, both located in Calabria, near Reggio Calabria. In 1985, he began working full-time with wood and founded a small company that produced sculptures. From 1991 to 1999, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Reggio Calabria, he participated in the Macef Trade Fair at the Milan Fairgrounds, presenting a high-end catalog of artistic and handcrafted items to top Italian and international retailers. In this context, his ideas and products received wide acclaim and recognition. Between 1992 and 1997, he collaborated at the organizational level with numerous public and private entities. With his works, he participated in many social, cultural, artistic, and artisan events throughout various locations across Italy. In 2000, he designed and created Asper 2000, an important set design installed in three different halls provided by the Municipality of Gioiosa Ionica. The installation recreated the natural environment of the Calabrian Aspromonte region. From 2005 to 2010, he focused on studying and creating advertising posters, commissioned by the association A.M.P.O.S.D.I., made up of national poets and writers, for all the regions of Italy. He is currently working, in collaboration with his son Danilo—also a sculptor, painter, and graphic designer—on a project exploring new expressive contexts. This is an artistic research journey that continues to place the environment at the center of attention, but also seeks to create dialogue among various artistic disciplines—from painting to sculpture, from set design to graphic design—in order to enhance their interdisciplinary relationships and, above all, to express the enigmatic wonder held in the land, the landscape, and nature. That same wonder that had so captivated Nicola Sacco’s eyes as a child.
