About The Artwork

This painting is available, and is currently being exhibited in the Portia Geach exhibition at one of Sydney’s leading public art institutions. It is available to ship in October 2019. Please contact the Saatchi Art team with any enquiries. Portrait of comedian, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor, drag queen and life-size woman, Trixie Mattel. Our initial sitting took place backstage at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Australia just before Trixie’s performance of ‘Skinny Legend’, her one-woman music and comedy show. Trixie Mattel is the stage name of mega-babe Brian Firkus. She’s young, educated, beautiful, rich and famous with a gooorgeous Native American jawline and hair for days.

Born in America, Sydney-based Kim Leutwyler migrated to Australia in 2012. She works in a variety of media including painting, installation, ceramics, printmedia and drawing. Kim holds concurrent bachelor degrees in Studio and Art History from Arizona State University, and additionally graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Painting and Drawing degree. Kim’s current work takes its form in paintings dealing with images of beauty, gender and Queer-identity. She has come to focus on painting as a medium because of its primarily masculine history in the western art canon. Her artwork has been exhibited in multiple galleries and museums throughout Australia and the United States. Some of Leutwyler's recent accolades include being selected as a finalist in the Archibald, Sulman and Doug Moran Art Prizes, as well as the Portia Geach Memorial Award.
