About The Artwork

Twitter. 41 25 x 12 “ These are actually some kind of magpie. This painting started out as “bird Song”, this is a refinement. It is a simple concept, but very hangable. I keep it in one of my airbnbs and it sells regularly. I like the message that animals have language. Birds are bright animals. Crows can recognize the faces of their neighbors. I want to know more birds. I like that at Sunset Ranch where I live, a peacock looks in the window and I can always here the muttering of the ducks and the bravado of the roosters. There is kinship here, they have a language and we should be listening to them more. This painting is a pretty way for me to say that. (i should say that the image is all one color, because it is long and thin, the image was below the pixel count needed to post so I stitched three photos together. The blue is homogenous across the painting)

Amy Bernays lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Born in London, she graduated with a BA(honors) in Fine Art from Central St Martins College in 2001. Her paintings are landscapes of personal interaction; poems to the love of line. Working with non-linguistic communication such gesture, body language, lingering looks and gossip. Her work is anthropological and personal, ponderings on the great themes of life, love and leisure. AKA Amelia Bernays Pitti (what systemic sexism?)
