Nastassja Nikitina (1988) I was born and studied in Russia. Now I live and work in Tbilisi, Georgia. The main theme of my artwork is a human in all their conditions and manifestations. Sometimes one definite shape isn’t sufficient for me and I create an impression of movement as if a trace of recent presence. I’m into depicting a human action, whether it is the act of sexuality, contemplating, talking, smoking, doing sport, etc. I’m mostly fond of oil painting and digital art. I’m a full-time artist. After studying in St.-Petersburg, I returned to my native town in the south of the country, because I can’t stand cold climate. Straight after my study, I rented a studio and got down to creating process, which turned out to be a release of those canons imposed by conservative art education. I made abstract non-figurative paintings. Unfortunately, that new state of mind led to depression. Now I realize why it happened to me. I was about 20 years old and my personality wasn’t ready enough for that kind of artwork. Luckily, there was a positive twist of fate and I got some students to teach. I didn’t specifically look for them, but they magically appeared from nowhere. Mostly they were older than me and they found a certain revival of their spirits in my studio, which was beneficial for all of us. I’ve dedicated about 10 years to work in my studio: . In fact, many students of mine have become professional artists (over 100 people) and I’m incredibly proud of them. Of course, for all these 10 years I’ve been painting, taking part in exhibitions and selling my own pictures (they were mainly customized). All these invaluable experiences have changed me and made me mature. I’m 33 now and I’ve left my studio and moved to Georgia. I’m absolutely sure of what I’d like to do and already doing it. Every day I spend painting and pondering over creative work. I put a part of myself into each new portrait. When I meet people who I portray afterwards I fall in love with them. I’m inspired by different people, not only by those who surround me, but also by strangers on the internet. I hope you’ll feel that when you get to know my artwork.
