Carlos Ste-Marie lives and works in Ste-Brigitte-de-Laval, Quebec, Canada. An accomplished artist with a varied portfolio which includes his participation to numerous collective events in Quebec, in Canada and around the world (Mexico, France, Poland and Cuba). Various private and public art collections have purchased and displayed his works. His research projects on painting has been recognized by prestigious institutions, such as the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and Canada Council for the Arts. In 2000, he received the famous René-Richard fellowship in the context of his Masters in Visual Arts. Aside this outstanding career in the visual arts, he also pursues a lifelong practice in the world of music. This other career path has been inspirational for the last 25 years. His work does not propose a vision of the world, nor does it valorize a privileged relationship with the viewer or the audience. His work is different from one project to the next. Carlos Ste-Marie’s works borrows constantly from the idea of ‘impossibility’ or ‘improbability’, at times these notions are self-imposed at other times they are used as poetical evocation
