Isaac Moss is an artist based in Berlin. A graduate as of June 2018, Isaac studied ‘Fine Arts’ specialising in painting at the Edinburgh College of Art. Isaac’s practice explores the relationship between image and language, predominantly using the mediums of painting and printmaking.----------------------------------------------------------------- My practice is an exploration of the relationship between image and Language. By divorcing both from their assigned values and conflating them, my work posits that text and image are arbitrary. The work sits between mediums, neither print nor painting. This has allowed me to explore the tensions between language and image from both a conceptual and material standpoint.--------------------------------------------- Historically, painting has been responsible for the creation of imagery and printing for the dissemination of text. Utilising this relationship, my work does no more than aim to reinstate the ambiguous nature of both. Between familiarity and illegibility, my practice is about arbitrariness. Language is considered and explored as visual material, and imagery is formatted and distorted, finding itself in the midst of a blurred distinction. Recognisable but displaced.
