About The Artwork

I paint what I feel. I prefer to title my paintings “Untitled” so as not to sway the viewer to any particular conclusion. That way, their interpretation and thereby the painting, becomes more personal to them. I choose to paint abstract because it speaks to who I am. I use a palette knife to apply the oil paint which allows me far more freedom and ability to express the emotion that lies somewhere within me. Sometimes they become very textural, as is the case with this painting. I enjoy using thick paint, especially with oil. Because of its inherent quality, oil allows spontaneity and reactivity, which generates my motions and consequently the painting itself. I can’t say what specifically inspires my work, other than to say possibly everything around me. As I said, I paint what I feel. I sign my paintings on the back. For hanging purposes I can wire, D-hook or leave bare- whichever is preferable. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about my process.

I am an abstract painter. Simply said, I paint what I feel, not what I see. It needs to be raw, never before seen and completely original in thought. When looking at something for the first time, as is the case with abstract art, we are handed the opportunity to add body to our cognitive, visual and emotional collection. I think that is quite extraordinary. I have lived in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and New York. I studied art at the University of Utah and Parsons School of Design. I take enormous pleasure in traveling and being able to take personal part in other cultures. Passionately learning and absorbing all there is, in as many museums as possible, nurtures my appreciation for all art.
