Peter Smolka is a contemporary polish artist based in Germany and co-founder of the famous “Guldenstern” art project. In his paintings and mixed media artworks he uses screen printing techniques, stencils, and gestural painting. Peter achieves a perfect harmony between unpredictable interaction of layers, expressiv painting and a traditional composition. The artists' own style, is unmistakable, which becomes clear not least through the basic material used. In addition to canvas and wood panels, he mostly uses shiny aluminum plates as the base material for his often large-format images. Especially this rather "cold" material develops through the artistic processing with often warm and vibrant colors, a fascinating momentum, where the viewer is very well able to trigger various emotions. His works have already been shown in many international exhibitions in Berlin, Munich, London and Zurich, among others. Many of his works are in well-known private collections in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, England, France, Japan and the USA as well as in public institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Europalast in Brussels, Nippon Ind. in Tokyo, the Gallery Lafayette in Berlin or the Swiss Humanity Corp. in London and Geneva.
