My name is Ashley Long and I am currently a student at Seton Hill University in Greensburg Pennslyvannia. Artist Statement Art is who I am, and how I came to be. I believe I do not look at the world the same as anyone else. I do not produce art about a specific unifying subject that I am completely aware of. Art is something that helps me understand the world, and without out it I would have no meaning. It is how I survive and communicate in this strange world. I often draw on random things that are available to me at the time. Sometimes they are developed into more in-depth ideas and detailed images. For most of my art it is about how I comprehend life, what I am feeling at the time, and it helps me arrange my thoughts together to make sense of it all. The reason why I want to teach art is because it was the only thing that ever gave me hope, and never let me down. I want to teach children that there are other ways to express their genius inside them. I believe it is my goal to help children find themselves, and challenge them with creative problem solving strategies. Art teaches many forms of discipline, and self discovery that are very important to learn in life.
