Bill Bruce b. 1932 After four years in the Navy, and discharged in San Francisco in 1955, a 22 year old lad from Iowa decided to stay. At least for awhile. Enjoying the "beatnick" way of life, one can handle only so much poetry and wine. So, I decided to return to my Midwestern roots and moved to Chicago. The windy city and the cold weather, convinced me to move back to San Francisco in the late 50's...just in time to say goodbye to the "beats", and welcome the generation of "peace and love". I moved into the Haight Ashbury district, met my wife to be, and settled down.
