ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Vögel" is a series of paintings created in the year 2023. In this series I explore new facets of my creativity based on what surrounds me. "Vögel" means "Birds" in German. Living in Germany for almost two years now, I have been absorbing the local culture and language, which is certainly reflected in my work. The bird, as a symbol of freedom and the path to something new, reflects my formation in a new place. My practice is based on an almost exploratory approach. I like to work with colour, geometric and abstract forms that the viewer can recognise by association. The unique acrylic technique presents a "clean and smooth" effect and emphasises the expressiveness of the forms, depth and volume of the painting.

I'm a Ukrainian artist and designer, currently live in Berlin. I was born in Odesa, but then moved to study fashion design in Lviv National Academy of Arts. So, I graduated from the Fashion Design Department. During my studies, I discovered not only the world of fashion, but also art in general. That’s why after time I realized that I am interested in working and to develop in different directions. It is important for me to engage in different projects, to shift the perspective from one discipline to another, so it helps me to be more honest with myself, and create art, both independent creativity and work on commercial projects. So, I work as a fashion designer, artist who creates collages, paints/draws, and digital illustrator. That’s my main direction, although I am open to discoveries. I’m interested in working deep inside through art, what we Ukrainians are going through, and how it brought me to the point where I am now. Through art I can convey a message, promote a concept, raise issues and develop a culture. I want to introduce people to Ukrainian culture and share my thoughts, feelings and views on different topics. Art is like a dialogue between the artist and the viewer.
