The Arraiolos Carpet is made with "Ponto de Arraiolos", an outstretched cross stitch perfected by the seamstresses of Arraiolos, a charming village in southern Portugal. Needle work, hand embroidered on jute canvas with wool. The patterns for this piece born in the first lock-down of the COVID-19. In this lock-down I taught my daughters the Portuguese embroidery known as Arraiolos embroidery. When the lock-down ended, I visited for an interior decorator friend and this piece became a beautiful bedroom rug for its simplicity. Tapestry needle-embroidered known as Embroidery of Arraiolos.
