Anja Spagl is a german artist with a humanities background. She comes from Nuremberg, studied sociology in Bayreuth and Bordeaux, and at the same time learned to paint in Bordeaux (2016-2019) in the studios of local artists.
Since 2019, she has a gallery space in Germany and exhibits regularly in France and Italy.
Watercolors remained her technique for the first few years, and she gradually switched to oil and acrylic painting.
Her paintings are an invitation to a surreal world that is characterized by a poetic, romantic and sometimes melancholic note. It's about raising questions in the viewer without necessarily wanting to force a concept on him - subtle criticism that is hidden under the filigree aesthetics of the brushstrokes.
Art is a specific way for artists to see and understand the world - and at the same time a way to escape from the moment. Art is the answer to essential human aesthetic and intellectual needs and: it is even able to reconcile both.
