About The Artwork
Manatees are marine mammals that today face many threats such as the loss of warm-water habitat, harmful algal blooms and boat strikes. My inspiration for this painting comes from a recent (symbolic adoption of a manatee) donation I made to help the Defenders of Wildlife organization confront the manatee crisis. These creatures need safe travel routes and calving areas, healthy sea grasses and other food, as well as clear streams and waterways in order to survive. I hope my art inspires you to help manatees too.
