First place winner in the American Art Awards, landscape realism category 2024. This large and powerfully striking centre-piece waterscape painting focuses on the movements observed in the sea. Depicting mesmerizing movements that dance to the gentle rhythm of the sea whilst evoking a real sense of calm and tranquillity. With meticulous blending of superior high quality pigment rich oil paint on a relatively smooth linen surface, sometimes creating abstract shapes, this contemporary painting encapsulates the fluidity of the water. Ready to hang, with the necessary hardware, this painting is presented in the contemporary gallery wrapped style and therefore no additional framing is required. The painted image is carefully continued around the outside edges of the painting. For me the sea is a really important part of my life and continues to inspire my choice of subject matter. I began painting large waterscape type paintings in the 1970s and all these years later still enjoy having them on my easel. Timeless imagery. Materials used throughout are all of superior quality. The hardwood stretcher, oil primed linen canvas and professional grade paint all provide longevity.

I have long been fascinated with painting water and nudes in water. I find the reflective properties, the movement and the distorting qualities of water provide me with a wealth of challenges. I find that although my aim is always to produce a high degree of realism in my paintings I am constantly using sequences of abstract shapes to achieve an effect. "Peter's work has been seen around the world. In his paintings reflections of both classical and modern interpretations can be found. With superb and interesting techniques he infuses a harmony between natural realism and the painted surface creating subtle yet dramatic imagery. Influences can be identified from many periods of art history. In particular the realism of the late nineteenth century and the photo-realism of the twentieth century."
