This painting is based on the play “Waiting For Gardot” by Samuel Beckett. It is our “Waiting For Gardot” in 2020. As we sit and wait for answers, through “lockdown”. We have two men, Vladimir and Estragon, waiting for a third man, Godot. The play is a typical example of the “Theatre of the Absurd”. People use the phrase ‘waiting for Godot’ to describe a situation where they are waiting for something to happen. The entire play is a conversation about Godot who never arrives.
