About The Artwork
Warm White Field is a non-objective minimal painting celebrating simplicity, light and color. Its composition uses subtle colors of white, ivory, gold, brown and black. The image comprises countless delicate lines, dots, and flecks which create a mysterious tapestry which invigorates the viewer. Its unified almost monochromatic field elicits a calm peacefulness in the viewer. White expresses purity and space. The surface of the canvas is slightly textured which adds a sensual tactility. The neutral painted edges gives the piece a stylish elegance.The work can be hung vertically or horizontally with or without frame. The painting is signed on the back. Technique: Heidi Thompson’s painting process begins with texturing a stretched cotton canvas with gesso and silica sand. The texture gives the painting a natural, almost sculptural tactility..Once the surface dries, she applies paint using a small fan brush and stick. For several hours, she taps the paint-loaded brush to build a field of thousands of flecks, dots and lines.

Nature presents light, dark, shadows and movement which evoke emotions of mystery, wonder and love. My goal as a painter is to use nature’s abstract elements like colour and space to capture a particular feeling, a feeling of unity, passion or peacefulness. I strive to create painterly abstractions that mysteriously resonate with my deeper self and hopefully with the soul of the viewer. I believe art is a way to communicate one soul to another.
