ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Water Lilies I" is a gouache painting in canvas. It is part of a 3 piece triptych. The entire triptych is available for sale, but I am open to selling them separately to inquiring buyers. Prints are for sale as well in different sizes. Water Lilies started with this piece. I was watching a graduate student at UC Berkeley, whose name escapes me, work with this medium. She inspired me and I went out that day and bought a starter kit for gouache and put paint to the canvas that day. My idea was to get an abstract spin on a water scene with lilies and other vines growing up. I wanted it soft yet detailed. I found this piece to be so successful that I decided to make two more and create a triptych out of it. I loved trying this new medium and the outcome for me was a huge success.

I am a 26 year old living in downtown San Diego. I grew up in LA county and went to school at UC Berkeley. I went into college as a collegiate soccer player with hopes of playing professionally. That did not come to fruition, so I began to think about what else I was passionate about, and that answer was art! I was successful in the art program with a lot of features in UC Berkeley's Art Gallery, Kroeber Hall. I had the incredible opportunity to study under great artists like John McNamara, Brody Reiman, Craig Nagasawa, Indira Morre, Randy Hussong, and many more. Once graduating in 2015, I decided to move back down south where I could be warm again and afford my rent :) Since being in San Diego, I leased my own art studio and became a working artist and curator. In 2018, I produced and curated 2 large galas in San Diego's oldest most historical art building, The Brokers Building Gallery. Both galas featured between 10-20 local and international artists. I recently decided to take a leap and become an Art Consultant for National Geographic, this job I did not enjoy so I am working on building as an artist and pushing myself to create consistently again.
