For the past year, give or take, I've been exploring water as my subject matter. Specifically the ocean. I love the inconsistency of water. It's ever changing state is something of an enigma. I wanted to capture the texture of water in an abstract, yet realistic way. After much trail and error, I feel like I've only scratched the surface, but a good start non the less. The work is multi dimensional. Meaning that what ever orientation the piece is displayed it will appear different. This goes paired with how the ambient light changes throughout the day. The viewer can interact with the piece by moving around it. Colour was introduced by spraying orange from a singular angle. This creates the illusion of the sun setting over the ocean. The end goal of the work is to allow the viewer to escape from reality. To drift in their subconscious, even just for a few minutes.
