Wedding At Cana Painting

Maria has been painting for over a decade. She has been involved in over 40 exhibitions and has been featured in 5 solo shows both locally in Malaysia and internationally. Predominantly focused in abstract and conceptual works, she has of late - struggled to find a deeper meaning in her abstract works. An artist lives, breathes and expresses an inner world through their work. It is the truth of their being, however vulnerable and personal it may seem. It is what resonates within. Maria has chosen to heed her calling. From personal struggles and challenges in her life, she has surrendered and turned to God. One day in Church while listening to a sermon, a divine message came to her. The pastor was talking about the Word and the importance of seeking truth into our lives. She realised her inner critic and negativity was killing her life. She decided to challenge herself to seek the truth into her own life, and in those around her. This marks a 360° turning point in her life and in her work. Maria struggles with reading the bible, and so she paints instead. A visual form of language and communication that is more natural to her. The work aims to highlight the importance of the message, rather than the inflated ego of the artist. Maria (not her real name) chooses to remain anonymous to glorify God's good work. She prays for the holy spirit to lead her in developing this body of work further.
