Series based upon the intuitive connection I made between these two patterns. I was struck some day by the formal analogy between the striations of whales' belly and finger tips. I then decided to change scales, making the fingerprints overwhelming to emphasize the humankind's impact on nature, even on large animals like cetaceans...
To divide the square format in 6 equal rectangles was a way for me to suggest time, as in comics, through a sequential structure. I've been interested for a long time by possibilities it offers to create a rhythmic image
P.S: For storage and financial reasons, this work is only matted once sold. The canvas is custom made buy a professional supplier that needs at least a couple week to make and ship it,and then it takes some time to mount the paper properly and professionally onto the canvas.
