100x100 x 4 cm 39.4W X 39.4Hx1.6D" inch acrylic on canvas by Lies Goemans This is the thirty fourth painting in an ongoing series. I like to paint places that seem to exist although I have never really seen them. This could very well be a secluded forest lake. Leafs are falling and the autumn sun is just setting. Some of the darker parts in the water transport you to deep mysterious depth and the wind makes the rest of the water surface a bit rough and less transparent. You are wondering what you see across the lake under the trees. It is quiet and you only hear the rustling leaves. But I invite you to flow on your own imagination into this canvas. Transparency, layering, movement, fluidity, the multiplicity of water is so exciting. There is a whole world below the surface and you can only get a glimpse of it. It mirrors the sky and it reflects you as the viewer. This painting has matte and glossy parts so no varnish is used to keep that intact. It is equipped with a suspension system, and ready to hang. It is painted and signed on the side, so there is no additional frame needed.

Lies Goemans is an Amsterdam based artist who loves to travel and paint abroad. “Nature is my source of inspiration. The beauty, the grandeur, the richness of detail and also the vulnerability. She is currently working on multiple series, here at Saatchi you can find some of them: At first large waterscapes all by the name ‘What Lies Beneath’. And some smaller and bigger ones with their own title. "One of the things I love about being a painter is to feel completely free to create a place where I would like to be. I’m intrigued by the changing shapes and colors of water. Transparency, layering, movement, fluidity, the multiplicity of water is so exciting. There is a whole world below the surface and you can only get a glimpse of it. It mirrors the sky and it reflects you as the viewer." Here at Saatchi she also shows a new serie of floral portraits. Flowers that awake poetry in paint. "Look at a flower, it does not constrain itself, gives herself fully, without reservation. Pure zest for life. I want to emphasize that vitality and beauty. I pick my bouquet with care, the colors the shapes the openness. It guides me at first, then I let it go, and set it free on the canvas. It’s a sensitive, dedicated and joyous proces." Through her paintings she likes to bring the outside in and the inside out at the same time. "Every second there is a variation of color, light, structure. Nature, life really, is always changing, layered and imperceivable. To me painting is not so much about portraying reality but that what I feel and see within that reality. It’s about playing and being seriously committed at the same time. Sharing that feeling of magical beauty, making your soul feel good, celebrate what’s right with the world, that’s what I want my paintings to bring for you too." For more paintings visit her site
