About The Artwork

Old monasteries had lovely gardens - often arranged in squares with different flowers and produce for the monks kitchen. The garden is red - as it would be just before the sun sets on a lovely summer day. Some of the garden sections are made with block prints - and there are 2 waterways. The large white shape could be "The snake in Paradise" or it could be a piece of cloth left by one of the monks who tended the garden. The block prints are made with silver acrylic paint and the white shape is painted with glossy white paint. The artwork has my symbol on the front and is signed on the back - the sides are painted and needs no frame. it is ready to hang.

I was born in Denmark, and have been drawing and painting since early youth. I have lived in Germany and France, where I had my own fashion brand. I moved to Italy in 2000 and decided to give up fashion design and devote myself full-time to painting -- a decision I have never regretted. My chief source of inspiration are the many diverse cultures I have come across during my numerous trips. I always loved beautiful textiles, but I also draw inspiration from the shapes and color combinations of the traditional arts of China, Korea and Japan, and African and Oceanic tribal art. And I should not forget to add that I just love flowers and gardens - always an inexhaustible source of inspiration. I hope that the my paintings convey to the viewer something of the visual stimulation and excitement that I feel when I have created a new work.
