I felt like creating an imaginary countryside scene, simple but in an impressionistic kind of style. I masked out some flowehead shapes in the middle and foreground with liquid latex, then from the top I poured low viscosity cerulean blue, yellow ochre and alizarin crimson in sequence and tilted the canvas just enough to let these colours run and create a pale background, and slightly stronger mid and foreground. The latex was then peeled off and the flowers and other details done in layers with a brush. I wanted the picture to let me know when it was finished...

I have been working as a freelance ceramics and glass restorer since being professionally trained in the early 1990's. As such, i have carried out projects for The British Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC, Glasgow Museums, The Conservation Centre, Salisbury and The National Palace Museum, Taiwan. I decided to re utilise my skills accumulated over several decades and apply them to canvas. My influences are many and varied from Pop Art to Surrealism, Abstract, Expressionism to Impressionism. I adore exploring and trying out new things with acrylic medium and find the process theraputic and very satisfying, I hope this is reflected in my work...
