I create art to give pleasure, to myself whilst creating it and to others to uplift, fascinate and resonate with each person.
I love texture and I am fascinated by colour and light. I enjoy using texture mediums to create interesting surfaces which I then colour. Many of my paintings have textured contours which cast shadows that change as the light changes and give a different life to each piece throughout a day.
I’m captivated by the different ways paint behaves depending on how it’s used, the way the strokes of a brush or palette knife leave their mark, the way the paint mixes and changes with every pass.
I love to watch my paintings unfold before me, as although I may start with an idea, I let the paint itself dictate how the piece evolves. Abstractionism is perfect for allowing the colour and form of my work to express the nuances of the paint and mediums themselves, unconstrained by realistic form.
