Wintersong is part of a new collection of works exploring the artistically appealing, reductive shapes and forms of found objects in nature. By reducing visual complexity down to a high contrast, two-dimensional rendering of light versus dark, the architectural lines of natural elements gain prominence in a simplified, aesthetically-pleasing abstract form. Evoking the minimalist color palette of dormant woods in winter, Wintersong is one such loosely abstracted representation of the exposed rootball of a felled tree. Whereas a dormant tree would return to its leafy glory the following spring, here, the last remaining vestige of the beauty that has been is captured in the sculptural lines of its form. Wintersong is a diptych comprised of two equally size canvases that have been bound together and framed as a single painting. It is possible to separate the canvases into individual paintings and reframe without damage to the art. The diptych is sold as framed, which includes a bronze color metal inner frame and a natural color, lightly whitewashed maple frame.

Stacey Warnix is an American lyrical abstraction painter who uses gestural methods to render large-scale, non-representational paintings over raw textile. Her paintings explore the experiential affect of nuanced color and scale, using layers of disparate translucency and contrasting textures to subtly shift the perception, light reflectivity, and luminosity of her landscape-inspired color fields. Introduced to representational oil painting by an artist grandmother, Stacey created paintings and collages throughout her school years, winning frequent awards, but ultimately pursued a professional career in law and finance. She lived and worked professionally in California and London before moving to Texas, where she started painting again. Stacey experimented with gestural abstraction and became enamored with the process as a meditative escape. Today, she paints to escape a world of precision, finding respite in abstract forms, textures, and tones. Stacey’s paintings feature nuanced layers of mixed media pigments interspersed with collage. Her extensive years in residence along the California coastline made an indelible impression and that influence shows throughout her body of work, with marked visual references to time-worn, hazy memories of light-filled coastal vistas.
