ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I am constantly inspired by knowing that water is endless, it just changes form. There is history, future and now in every drop. This artwork is a dynamic exploration of water, colour and texture, through a rich interplay of hues. Dominated by vibrant shades of deep green, it evokes the serenity and mystery of water. Streaks of teal weave through the canvas, adding depth and movement. My process involves layering and scraping, exposing underlying pigments that reveal an intricate, almost tactile surface. Flecks of pink punctuate this composition, injecting a vibrancy that contrasts with the dominant greens and blues. The abstract nature of the piece allows for your own interpretation by engaging the senses and sparking the imagination.

I’m inspired by a profound love for water, I hope that my painting possess the transformative power to infuse spaces with a sense of both tranquillity and vitality. I aim to capture the essence of water's ephemeral nature and its ability to manifest in various forms, whether it be the ethereal shape-shifting clouds or the flowing currents of a river. The representation of water through paint and process serves as a persistent theme in my art. I am never happier than when I am in my studio exploring the canvas and seeing where my art takes me. My work is deeply influenced by the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi, a philosophy that embraces the beauty of imperfection and transience. My interpretation of Wabi-Sabi permeates my practice, allowing me to explore and experiment with different materials and processes. Embracing the positive outcomes of serendipity, I always approach my work with a sense of playfulness and openness, inviting unexpected elements to shape the final outcomes.
