About The Artwork

The symbols are derived from Gardiners "Egyptian Signs", no A35 and B9. It would mean that a woman is building something (a wall). I put Senet there instead of a wall. There are no Egyptian symbol for women building anything, so I constructed this one, reversing one where a woman plays an instrument. The symbols on the box are inspired by those that are carved on an actual Senet board game. I saw the game at the egyptology museum in Turin, Italy. The painting is done in acrylic paint on acid free paper. It can be framed in a regular A4 frame (21x30 cm), though the full framable size is a little bit taller (32 cm).
