Words I'd Say Painting

Miriam is a Newcastle-based artist and the creator behind Lucy Mim. Working primarily with acrylics, she creates abstract art with each piece aiming to spark feelings of peace, joy and self-acceptance for others. Her work is inspired by nature and are expressionistic formations that are ever evolving. Each artwork is built upon layers with gestural strokes and fields of colour. The initial approach to each canvas begins with an emotion, experience or event in mind. This is then developed by sitting with that feeling until it evolves into an image that celebrates the core theme, whether it be seen or felt as positive or negative. To achieve the end result, colours are moved and blended to ultimately create a sense of calm and flow. With each painting too, they usually are accompanied by a short story or poem that welcomes the viewer for further connection.
