Art has always been more than a passion for me, it is the language through which I navigate the world. As a Nepali-American artist now rooted in Texas, my practice reflects both personal and cultural journeys, shaped by migration, memory, and self-expression. Coming from two generations of artistry in Nepal, following in the creative footsteps of my father and grandfather felt natural. I began painting as a child, eager to connect with that legacy. Over time, art became more than a connection to my family, it became my own path of exploration and expression. From watercolors to acrylics and oils, and from representational work to conceptual forms, my practice has evolved into a dialogue between tradition and contemporary life, between structure and spontaneity. My work branches across three primary series: cityscapes, abstract, and figurative art. My cityscapes are more than architectural depictions, they serve as portals into my immigrant experience, carrying stories of identity, transition, and belonging. In my abstract work, emotion takes precedence over form, inviting personal interpretation and intuitive connection. Through my figurative exploration of the nude form, I challenge cultural taboos, not only those rooted in my home country of Nepal but those I’ve encountered globally. These works reclaim the body as a symbol of power, beauty, and divinity, as it was traditionally depicted in ancient himalayan art. For me, art is not about dictating meaning but offering an open space for reflection, where personal history, cultural identity, and universal emotion intersect. I invite viewers to look beyond the surface, allowing each stroke, color, and texture to resonate with their own experiences.
